Got an older large cent and wasn't quite sure where to start in terms of finding out what variety it is. At the very least I'm aware that it's hair style #1. The coin is pretty beat up and a little corroded but considering the price I got it at I'm happy with the purchase. Anybody have any experience with these things? Would really appreciate some help!

Thanks guys

I didn't see any of the major varieties but maybe someone else did!

I'm thinking S-160 R-4- Type 1 hair, large 7 small 8, rev of 1799 (The full hub rev used for something like half the 98's the 99's and all the 1800's) wide date with the 9 & 8 well apart, obv heavily polished removing the centers of the hair curls. Obv used for 160 and 161, 161 has a die lump/chip on the right side of O in ONE, the 160 does not. Dull lines or chips in field by denticals above the space between ER on S-160 appear to be present.
