Found this while browsing. Trying to make sense of what happened to this LMC. The rim on the obverse seems undamaged. Seeking educated input. Thanks in advance.

It is a type of capped die. Not worth that kind of money.

It was Struck Through a Capped Die. Although, it's definitely not worth that much. It's probably worth maybe 40 dollars at the most. http://www.error-ref.com/struck_thr...age_die_cap/

I was sure the seller was off his rocker with the insane price. I'd just never seen an error like that.

You're very welcome chefemasterj! A lot of times, sellers are off their rockers with the prices. It's pretty common to see high and unrealistic prices on ebay.
