I am noticing people storing their coins in these types of containers:

Is there any benefit to that?

Looks like a refurbished ammunition box . I can't say I've seen a lot of people storing their coins in this metal box .
It will probably be ok if the coins are holderd in air-tites and that the box will not rust .
Don't take life too seriously and remember it is just a passing fad ......

Well store might have been a poor choice of words. I should say people say they have unsearched rolls that have been stored in those ammo cases and are Gem Uncircualted and I thought maybe there was something special about the boxes being for ammo.

I don't think there is anything particularly special about them. For storing a lot of rolls, I can see how the size and weight capacity makes it a good choice.

This is usually done to increase the appeal of the scam, these boxes can make the rolls seem more "authentic" or "Natural" than they really are, this is also why you see mint bags in the background or piles and piles of these rolls. The more "legit" it looks, the easier it is to sucker people into buying their rolls.

Ammunition boxes such as the .30 cal size shown, does have a gasket seal around the lid making it air/water tight. After many times of opening, this gasket does wear out, hence no longer a firm seal. I use these for storage of gunpowder and all my shotshells where moisture is a killer for "freshness". I wanna "Boom" not a "Poof" when I drop the hammer on my sawwed-off!

They are moisture proof ( to a point ).
I have never seen bulk coins stored in ammo boxes, but I'm sure someone somewhere does it.

Not sure why anyone would store coins in those since so many other places and safer too.

Are the coins being stored rolled or just dumped in? Perhaps you want to line the box with something if the coins aren't rolled.

They are strong/sturdy containers and will hold a lot of weight. I can see something like this for long-term/bulk storage (silver/gold bars, rolls, etc..) After you throw some moisture absorbing silica gel packs in. Not something you'll be pulling out and looking through several time a week.
