SO I am planning to buy this coin from a guy and just want to get an idea if it looks real or not.
If it turns out real then BOY its worth serious money.
It has not been appraised and the guy hasn't gotten this coin checked.
what do you say

to CCF. Does it stick to a magnet? If it does it is plated. Weight?

The three looks a bit funny when I compared it to images on Google. It seems to be missing a downward serif at the top. Maybe an altered '8'?

Like an unsearched roll on ebay, are you just taking the seller's word for it? And moreover, why would the seller not have it checked out? Unless they feel that the price of the unknown supersedes the price of the known fake.
My opinion- fake.

Personally I would stay away from it unless it was certified.
There are a couple of red flags on the coin aside from the general appearance that to me would say NO NO NO.

If real, it's a six figure coin. Is the seller asking anything near six figure money? If it seems to good to be true, well you know the rest....

On an enlargement you can see where the 8 was turned into a 3.

Thanks Guys...
As for the last comment..
3 is just worn off...
if you look at a 48 penny you can easily compare it with it...

Whatever you do, DON'T buy it! It's a fake. It's not a real 1943 LWC. It's from 1948, just altered to look like a 1943. I can tell that it's fake right off the bat.

So here is the whole story...
the guy I want to buy this coin from lives in my home country in India..
He is asking for 400,000 Indian Rupees, that equals to like 6000 US Dollars..
We don't have any appraisal services or like some good coin dealers who deal in US coins..
I have seen the coin personally and I took these pictures.
The only problem is that the guy is saying to pay him the money and do whatever with the coin as he don't have any sources outside INDIA where he can sell it.
He got this coin from his grandfather who was a coin collector.
Now I want to get as sure as I can because if its a fake I lose 6 grands..
But if it is real then...............
I do have more pictures of the coin but they will tell the same story...
So this is not a fake story or something...
I am just really confused...
