Hello friends!

Going through my Jefferson nickel Album -- I know nothing about nickels. What are your thoughts on grades for these two?

The 42-S has some really cool toning or something

The 50-D almost looks satin like... they've been in this album since 1960, my dad started this collection when he was younger.

These two are around similar condition to the others in the set ... the others are around the same or a little better I'd say.

A nice pair of Jeffs!

The 50D is an odd bird, with almost full steps but a very weak strike towards the center. The 42S is noticeably sharper but with more weakness in the steps.

My grades MS63 for the 50D and MS64+ for the 42S. They both have attractive original album toning (the "satiny" look and edge toning.)

I'm so shocked that you guys grade these this high. I would have never thought to be honest! Awesome learning here.

I agree the 1942 S warrants MS63. I am shocked with the consistent MS grades given the 1950 D. The lack of definition on Monticello seems to limit it to EF40 at best.
