If you kept 5 rolls of 1968 nickels, what kind of premium would you be getting today, 40 years later? None.
More likely, at some point over 40 years, they'd be lost in a fire, flood, or theft, for a net gain of -$10.

I am sorry biggfredd I have to totally disagree! I think you should keep some if you collect nickels. As far as you being -10 in the hole I can never see happening unless they were lost. If we looked at anything in our collection that would at some point over 40 years, they'd be lost in a fire, flood, or theft, I would stop collecting.... Anyway do you research on the metal content of the coin. its 75% copper and 25 % nickel. Look at it as if inflation hits which it will and already has done your nickels will be worth more than face and will be BU. Remember the mint is going to change the composition of the nickel probably in the 2009 year b/c it cost now more to make the nickel than it is worth. So look at metal content and where that will stand in 40 years. Copper and nickel could be the next silver. and if they are not you still have 2 dollars per roll you can trade in.
