HI,

I have noticed on here that the going rate seems to be around 3-5 cents a piece for wheaties. I am curious why since in my coin books the seem to be worth at least .40 cents even in g4 and some are worth more. Why sell for 5 cents if in g4 condition it says it's worth .90 cents.

Just looking for others opinions and reasoning.
thanks
Malissa

The 3-5 cents a piece price is usually what is quoted for bulk lots. If I was looking to buy 5,000 wheaties, 3-5 cents each would be the going price.

oh. that makes sense then. But if buying in bulk and the dealer is getting around 5 cents a piece aren't the odds high that he's picked out the better or more valuable years?

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. It is whether it is worth the dealers time. Some dealers don't want to spend the time searching through 5,000 cents. It is easier fro them to just resell the bag to a collector at a higher price.

It is almost the same with world coins found in US coin shops. US dealers usually just put them in the junk bin at x# of coins for $1.
