Are there any 1981 zinc pennies? What would prove it if there are any?

As far as I know there aren't supposed to be any.
1982 was the changeover year. The weight would be
a good starting point though. A zinc coin weighs 2.5g
whereas a copper coin weighs 3.1g.

What it would prove is someone took the time to counterfeit a penny.

NONE have ever been found and it's highly unlikely one will ever be found. I don't think zinc planchets even existed while the 1981's were being minted.

To answer your question, it would have to weight 2.5g.
