I recently found what could be an undated Washington quarter. Has anyone even seem a coin like this before? Is it something special, or just a gag? The coin appears to have only the slighest of a marking of "1" and nothing else. Any help! Thanks in advance.

Is it a possibility that the date could just be extremely worn and it is no longer easily legible?

Thank you for the quick answer. I thought the same, just worn. But most of the other features are fairly sharp. Lettering, hair, wings on the reverse. Just missing a date! Am going to try and send a photo. Any ideas!

Sorry, this website isn't allowing me to post a photo right now. I'm not that good with computers, so if it doesn't happen easily, it doesn't happen. I will try again.

Thank you for your help. If anyone knows how to easily submit photos on this site, your assistance would be appreciated.

Worn.....or taken off by some other means.....I'd say.
Grease Filled Die ?......hmmmmm....dunno about that.
I'm guessing that it isn't a "Mint error" in that sense.....IMHO
But definately will be watching this thread for other comments....

From the pitting that is visable I'm guessing it was taken off with some type of acid .

......that seemed like an obvious "spot" for the pitting to be located to me too !

could be acid due to that pitting.
Of course, one might expect acid to also attack metal hardnesses at different rates--and not altogether remove a date flush to the fields
If I were to guess, I'd say filled die with some post-mint damage thrown in.
