Does anyone have any info on these notgeld notes? They are obviously from the city of Ragnit. I'm not finding these in any catalog but vague references while googling make me think they were issued in 1914. It looks like they all have handwritten signaturesas well as well multiple city stamps.
There is a set of German notgeld catalogues and the 1914/15 issues are covered in 'Band 11' by Diessner. Its a fabulous catalogue, with full listings and coloured scans of a lot of the notes, along with price estimates.
I have volumes 1-6 as I have quite a few pieces of notgeld. And yes they are an incredibly valuable resource. I just can'y justify purchasing the the 1914/15 volumes when I only have one note from that time frame.
Note that these early notgeld issues tend to be quite drab and plain in their design. They were issued out of necessity. With hand-written signatures..........not too many would have been issued. You'll see 1 of the above in another post, interestingly!!
