I purchased two Lincoln cents proof today. A 1961 PCGS PR 67 RD and a 1954 PCGS PR 64 RB POP (3/2). I'm trying to complete a colorful 1950 through 1964 colorful tone Lincoln proof set. For purposes of PCGS sets I'm trying to complete a colorful 1950 through 1959 type set. Here's the two seller's photos from today's purchases and below that I'll add the others from the 1950's I have.

That's quite a run! The '54 really pops. What's with that spot in the obverse field of the '50? Do you keep an eye on it?

I asked a dealer a few months back and he said it was lamination. I should confirm it with my go-to dealer though.

Never heard of a proof lamination, but the shape of this is odd for sure. Whatever it is detracts somewhat, I think.

I had never heard of lamination beforehand......Now I'm going to have to pull it out of the bank again and get another opinion. I gave to a dealer a few towns away one day when I was going down with friends. I asked his opinion on the coin. He said your missing some flakes on the coin...probably air bubbles at one point caused the surface to change and eventually flake off. I thought ok that makes it a mint mistake thus the PCGS people must've thought that when grading it.......But now, I need to get another opinion close up.

BadThad. It's very hard to go from 1936 to 1950 with color.........I'm sticking to the 1950's for a while....a nice 1951 preferably; however, just because you asked I do happen to be one of the 8 people watching that coin....just putting it out there. I am aware of said coin....and also the 1958 with the great reverse but the not so great obverse. I believe that coin will be there a little while so I am in no rush unless I hit Keno again next weekend. BooM! I did think about that 1936 proof cent this weekend, but I went with the standing liberty 1925 instead because of the color, the OGH, and the FH. It had it all and I thought there was more of a chance of that coin selling than the 1936 Lincoln proof you speak of. But, it's on my mind. lol

BadThad, I blame you for this...or credit you. I still had some extra left over in the PayPal balance which I was going to use for something else...it's not the 1936....but it is a 1959 Pr 64 RB. It fills a hole and it's not that bad, BadThad. These are the seller's photos. I have to try and bring back the 1950's first; hopefully it's there in the end. Apparently the 1954 made very good time and should be in today's mail. I'll have that up later tonight I think since it's already at my post office.

OK the 1954 is in. It's very nice. Unlike the other 1950's I have which give off a rather neon rainbow toned effect. This one is a littler more subtle and gives off colors more like an IHP proof. Take a gander.

I saw this last night and picked it up a few minutes ago. It fills the hole very nicely I think. Seller's photo.
