Just pulled this guy out of my mixed bag of cents. Yes, the same bag the 2006 DDO-004 came out of last night. It's a very interesting bag of Lincolns, with the coin I looked at two before this one being a 1911-S.

Nice one! It surprises me that the reverse part corresponding with the cud is well struck. Usually they don't come out like that.

It's only big enough to weaken the reverse in that area a little bit, not wipe it out like the really big ones do.

Wait! let me get my loop, I can't quite see it. Abe looks quite nice for being 100 years old. Nice find TB. I hope to hear of more finds from that bag.

Well Don, I could write them out but no way I can do images of everything. Heck every MS grade 1963-D in there is RPM-004 Stage-D. Up to about 20 of them, plus half a dozen clips, a tapered planchet, 1959-D RPM-001 x 2, 1960-D RPM-009, 025, 050, 1961-D RPM-010, 1964-D RPM-007, 013, 1948 DDO-001, 1971 WDDO-005, and about 30 more DDOs and RPMs that I have been chucking in a tube to look up later as I'd like to get through the coins at some point. I went back to the source and ended up with a total of 15,000 coins to go through, with about 6,000 to go. Most of the wheats are low grade so not looking too hard at them but loads of MS quality copper memorials in there. The 2006 doubled ear was a surprise as not too many coins that new in the bag.

But, along with all those Lincolns I ended up with close to 5000 Jefferson nickels. Looking for someone into nickels to pass them off to as I don't work with them.

TB, sounds like that bag was the work of a very zealous variety collector with not enough time to attribute them. congrats on all your finds so far.

The bag of cents is not a mystery, although it may be somewhat unique. The dealer near me pretty much only sells high end coins and wholesales off everything else. So Lincolns aren't high on his list unless value is maybe fifty bucks or more for one. But he is super meticulous about what he sells and when he buys big collections ends up with a lot of Lincolns to deal with and separates them. These coins are years worth of cull wheat cents (including a few semi-key dates) plus any memorial cents (including entire B/U rolls) which have been getting tossed in bags. They were clearing such things out and I offered to buy the Lincolns. Picked them up in two rounds, as they were mixed with thousands of Jefferson nickels and had to be separated to count them.

So most of these coins aren't from a single collection, but the wheats were likely ones cracked out of albums. And in general other than looking for rare date wheats none of them would have been looked at for anything other than whether it was a cull wheat or a Memorial cent. Thus there are a lot of things still in there as none of them have been looked at closely.

For kickers, after the Jeffersons were sorted out I decided to buy them as well. I don't know squat about them but figure there must be a nickel searcher out there somewhere who would be interested in a similar group of nickels as this set is way better than anything one would find in bank rolls. Proofs, uncirculated, and loads of the older dates since they also would have been knocked out of albums.

Excellent deal and seller.
And I'm with you on the nickels being a nice selection when you find the right person to share them with.
