Hi folks,
I just started going through my Canadian coins. I have this 1940 50 cent coin. To my untrained eye it appears to be close to a VF. I would like your opinions please.
Thank you,
Chris

On review, the obverse fields do appear cleaned.

Thanks, guys. It shows some signs of having been cleaned. I inherited it and will pass it down.

Has the typical Chinese look to it, IMO. The "S" of "CENTS" looks botched. The beads above the crown seem unevenly spaced, and of inconsistent size.
At this time (for me), everything is guilty until proven innocent, unfortunately.

There is nothing on here that points to it being counterfeit that I can see looks completely normal

VF 20 looks legit. The 's' could be Machine Doubling. Old cleaning but its retoning

Too much wear to go above VF...also distracting obi. scratches keep it to that grade. Additional rev. rim ding.
