I thought it might have been an error with the shadowing on the p and in some of the lettering, or what causes that kind of shadowing behind letters and numbers because I have a lot of those coins that have the same kind of look to them.

If you're referring to a slight second image on the devices, it's most likely Machine Doubling. It's common on coins and can really look like an error. Search for information on Machine Doubling and see if that's what you're seeing on your coin.

A really great resource is http://www.error-ref.com You can find lots of information there and hundreds of photo of error coins and coins that seem to be errors, but aren't.
