The 2019 RCNA convention is this week and noticed in the follow-up email for the June Torex that The Canadian Numismatic Company (TCNC) will not have floor bidding.

From the email...
Moving forward, we hope to see you all at the upcoming RCNA Sale to be held in Calgary, under a somewhat different platform. The RCNA auction in Calgary comes with some particular challenges that will require us to run the Auction as an Internet sale from our offices here in Quebec City.

All the lots will be displayed for viewing at the Calgary venue, Thursday, July 18 through to Saturday the 20th. Participants will be able to view lots live and leave bids with the staff on place, phone or email in bids, or bid live on the net on one of our 5 computers set up on place to accommodate bidders who wish to bid from the RCNA venue, staff will be on hand to aid for the online bidding.

It will feel odd not to have a traditional floor from which to bid.

The last few I have attended have had poor attendance. Most of the action seemed to be online.
