With all the silly ebay auctions going on, I started thinking to myself what actually are the most valuable Canadian coins ?

My list includes the museum pieces:

1) 1911 Dollar ($1 million)
2) 1936 dot penny ($350,000)
3) 1936 dot dime ($250,000)
4) 1944 tombac nickel ($50,000)

My other lists includes stuff that an average buyer (after winning a lottery) could in theory buy today:

1) 1921 50 cents MS-60 ($75,000)
2) 1890 50 cents MS-60 ($50,000)
3) 1889 10 cents MS-60 ($20,000)
4) 1875 25 cents MS-60 ($18,000)
5) 1921 5 cents MS-60 ($16,000)
6) 1884 10 cents MS-60 ($10,000)
7) 1889 25 cents MS-60 ($7,500)
8) 1932 50 cents MS-60 ($5,000)
9) 1948 Dollar MS-60 ($2,000)

What other coins would you add to the list ?

Yes, it could be a long list. 1893 RT3 is one of my favorite 10c, and lightens the wallet more than either the 1884 or the 1889 (though the 1889 is close).

There's also the 1954 NSF (NSS) 5c, which would be on the upper "I can only wish" list.

One of my all time favourite rarities is the 1892 Large "9" dime. I've seen all the above mentioned in every grade imaginable, but try and find the one I mention in a mere MS-60!

Don't forget the 1969 Large Date dime... If I'm not mistaken, it's worth over $10,000 in VF-35

1906 "Small Crown" 25 cent (Fewer than 35 examples known)

and if Newfoundland Counts: 1873H 5 Cents (I believe ICCS Has only graded about 70 or so of these, ever.)

From Charlton 62nd Edition (2008)

"Fewer than 35 examples of the 1906 Small Crown coin, across all grades, have been recorded"

So unless someone discovered a whole hoard of them, I'm fairly certain.

I have this one, not a very good example but I like quarters , I can't say I knew if any one had a count on them.

Ohh I see what happened here. It is in fact the "small" crown. I wrote large in my original post but small in the actual quote from Charlton. "Small" is the rare one, which looks like the one you have... wow.

Can we see pics?
