I have a few ancient coins that I don't know much about. One side of this coin has some detail and the other side is quite worn. Any help is appreciated!

That is a beautiful looking obverse. Hopefully the coin is kosher.

Looks like a possible laureate bust of Apollo. There are remnants of a legend at left. There are several possible issues that fit these clues, though.

As echizento suggests, please post the reverse, even if it is well worn. Posting the size and weight will help too.

Can you repost a larger picture? This one is too small to tell anything.

As for size and weight I don't have a small scale but it is close to the size of a quarter and thicker than a quarter. It almost feels like stone?

The reverse pic - an eagle left - helps. In combination with fabric, size, and the "A" possibly preceded by lambdas or other "A's" in the worn obverse legend, it could be an AE of Hiketas II of Syracuse, 287-278 BC. The obverse figure is sometimes described as Apollo, sometimes as Zeus Hellanios. The legend is ΔIOΣ EΛΛANIOY. (I think I can sort of make out the ΛΛAN on yours - and they are located exactly where they should be for the issue)

Here's are a couple with the eagle centered better.

And here's a comparison of the worn legend on the OP coin with one that is complete.

As far as authenticity of coin I have no reason to doubt that it is real but how does it look to the rest of you?
