I'm researching airtight plastic coin tubes to store circulated 'just because I want them' coins. I realized this weekend my current plastic ziplock bag approach is greatly lacking.

That said in searching the forum I have seen many notes to make sure the tubes are archival quality plastic coin tubes. Does anyone have a specific brand they love? or any brand to not waste my $ on? I'm not looking for a bazillion of them, thinking I'll need like 5-10 of the larger sizes.

I was on one site and they have square tubes, which I would think would make boxing a bit easier. Thoughts and feedback? I'm guessing this is a users preference thing.

Which holders depends on the coins and the way and place of storage.

Squares are much easier for most storage situations.

If you can give us an idea of the type of coins you are storing it would help us provide a more specific opinion.

I have circulated Ike dollars and circulated Susan B Anthony's. These have no value other then face. I have them simply to stack and enjoy.

My friend stores quarters by using old M&M tubes to hold them and another person said "film canisters" finding those almost seem like more work then buying the plastic ones.

My paper tubes wear out and annoy me. *laughter*

i think what you are doing now is fine, sealed in baggies is ok, if you put them in a plastic container sealed, then just put a few desiccate packets in with them, to help control moisture.

Search Treasure Chest. There was a really superb company shown a week or so ago. Since the numismatic value is minute, pour them into a treasure chest that you can haul around the house for exercise and then run your hands through your gold

Airtights tubes are of no use, unless the coins themselves are all clean, because they are stored face to face.

Give them an acetone bath first, and don't get the acetone anywhere near the tubes.

I use those plastic tubes all the time and have been for many years. No problems yet.

THANK YOU Everyone!!

Moxking - you don't even understand how spot on your comments are - hubs jokes someday I'll be like the cartoon Scrooge and have a money vault of circulated coins to just pile and flip and swim in :P Though as a realistic adult the value of that would be wholly illogical.

It seems in general the airtight containers are a waste for my needs but its going to be so much better then the zip locks or the paper tubes.
