I cherrypicked this one for $25 today at a coin show from a box of mixed large cents. I know $25 is pretty steep, but it's my first large cent and a decent overdate, so I think I did okay. PCGS says that it is scarce in all grades and they estimate 2000 survive in all grades as well. Looks VG-08 to me. Thanks for taking a look!

Nice overdate. But with 2k in existance it's probably about R3-R4

Thanks GC. So it's pretty common I take it? I'm not too experienced with large cents.

It's not common, it's more uncommon. Not scarce or rare, just not common. Think of it as a 1998 WAM.

Oh that makes more sense. Thanks GC!

Edit: I also see that the price guides for this one are all over the place. They range from $29-$50. I'm guessing I could get $35 for this one without too much trouble.

Yeah probably. With large cents you havr to factor in strike, color, planchet porosity, color, ect. It gets confusing.

That's how I feel with the Jefferson nickels. You have to count the steps and figure out if the little nick is going to affect the FS designation.
I will probably hang on to this one. I like the overdate. :) Thanks for the help!

The 19 N-1 is an R-1+, rated as very common. It's still a nice strong clear overdate though.

Nice example - could you show us images that show the true color of the coin? These pics are washed out and show almost no color at all.

Actually, a nice coin at the grade. Just the pit or gouge in front of the bust is distracting

I don't think that's damage in front of the bust.

That's everyone! The bit in front of the bust looks almost like it was a flaw in the planchet?
