As stated in the topic
I need a dime to my type set, and have these two. Both reverses are very nice
62 - mostly white with some light toning
61 - nice toning
.. but the obverses are much less than perfect
62 - has a few scratches on the head and one larger mark. The lines from left top to right bottom are not scratches though.
61 - has four marks in the field, three on the rim, one (quite heavy) on the nose, and ugly black toning.

So, which one would you keep (and why)? Thanks.

I would use the 62-D it has better eye appeal than the toned one for a type set .

I agree with Metalman, if I had to pick between those two, I would go for the 62 D as well.

The toning on the '61 is not at all attractive, and those heavy dings... The '62 would also be my choice.

The '62 is more attractive, but I found the '61 amusing.

In the larger photo, the toning looks like FDR used some
"Just For Men" hair coloring

I don't understand(two different dates)?. I would keep em both. If your trying to build a set you will at least have a hole filler until you find a nicer 61. And if yer not making a set hoard and keep all your silver toned or scratched it still silver. HE HE

7 - 0 in favor of 61, so 61 it is. Thank you

DL20K,
Lol. I think you swapped them again. Everyone voted for the '62. I agree with them.

So 8 - 0 for the WHITE one. Good that I'm not collecting by year, I'd probably buy lots of unnecessary doubles
Rest in Peace

Definitely agree with everybody else. Much better eye appeal. Still has original luster. Far fewer strikes. Very nice Roosy. Wouldn't mind having it in my collection but I think I have one already. I would have to look.
