Going through these rolls I got today and I found these 2, I found a lot of other good ones I will post as well.

I am going to make a post with all of my penny finds so that others don't get sick of my posts lol.

These two coins are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what I'm finding...

JW, many of these pennies you're finding are ones I've gotten from collecting over the years from the wild... I'm glad these have fallen into your hands!

What is an SF? I might have some of these but don't know what I'm looking at? I know it's a candidness penny but what is the error/denticle issue?

Is this how to tell the difference? If so I was looking at the wrong thing and have to go back and looks at all my '53s again.

SF is short for "shoulder fold", referring to incuse detail indicating the seam of the Queen's dress at the shoulder. The earlier NSF ("no shoulder fold") variety lacks this detail. The two obverses were from different matrices on which some of the letters were shaped differently and had different locations relative to the rim denticles. Engraver Thomas Shingles was responsible for this change, correcting the defects in the original portrait model received from The Royal Mint in London.

1953 NSF the top and bottom of the "I" are flared and point between the denticles.

1953 SF the "I" is straight and points to a denticle.

@JHax & mcshilling...Thank you! So this was only for the 1953 that the "I" was pointing at the denticles and the queen had the crease at the shoulder?

Sarge50, for small cents from 1953 to 1955 there is the Shoulder Fold and No Shoulder Fold varieties, so the ones you will want to look for is...

- 1953 Shoulder Fold
-1954 No Shoulder Fold
- 1955 No Shoulder Fold

You can use this to tell the difference in Shoulder Fold and No Shoulder Fold.
