I've been thinking about doing this. Has anybody done this? Has it helped you? For example the 2005 Oregon State Quarters seem to have varieties not so easy to know what they are by the pictures I've seen. Also I think it'd help comparing a highest grade of a coin to see if you might be even in the ballpark of that grade.

If there are any proof examples, you might find them. I used to by a lot if 50 Proof sets in cello to search them. Best way to tell if they were probably searched is to see what they are selling. If he is selling varieties, pass. If they are just selling proof coin in the original cellos, they may be be searched as closely. Nickels from the 1960's in cellos can often show a lot on color toning on them from the cello.
