New to error coin collecting, introducing my son and daughter to coin collecting, searching pocket change and rolls.

1953D, two coins found in the same OBW. There is what appears to be a thread on Lincoln's bottom eye-lid and leads down the cheek. Any idea if the error is a die crack or a thread/ debris that was on the penny the time it was struck. It appears to be raised. both pennies are very similar. Any comments are appreciated, is it unusual, wondering the significance of the find.
Attached several pics,

I doubt a die crack would have smooth curves like this. Cracks are typically jagged.

Very unusual shape for a scratch or gouge too.

Is it possible this is hubbed-in debris, as this is clearly a die issue being on two coins? A string got between the die blank and the working hub during the creation of the die?

That's my best guess.
