Looking at this thing in a 2x2 I would have sworn that it was at least a 20 because of the separation of the cheek and jaw. The wheat lines looked REALLY good in the 2x2... so much so that I thought there was a possibility that this might have gone as high as EF. But the pictures don't lie. Even though I think it has VF details the damage has to limit the grade. Purchase price $1.00 Report this Post to the Staff
Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 10/13/2008 02:50 am Don't be too hard on the circulated wheaties . coins that have served in the battlefield of commerce are supposed to have hits dings and scatches and dents . This coin while it is not a great example of a VF it is still a VF by all standards . Full seperation of cheek and jaw ear almost flat with most detail remaining in the hair , and full but evenly worn wheatheads are acually an EF detail on the reverse but the the obverse carries most of the weight of the grade on the coin . VF-20 is the grade I would apply even with the low eye appeal . Report this Post to the Staff

You know, nearly every circ Lincoln Cent has been "cleaned". At some point almost all are exposed to water or other chemicals. The only difference is the bad ones have been purposely, harshly cleaned by rubbing or with acids. But I think nearly everyone of them has been "cleaned" at some point in their lives.
