The Peace dollar I had posted before as poss. Eagle shoulder spike VAM turns out to display significant doubling on the obverse. May be some doubling on rev, but it's such a weak strike it's hard to tell.

I obtained a digital microscope and have attached closeups showing doubling and stuff.

Please help me id the VAM if it is one... Thanks!
The closeup of the eagle looks like 1922 P VAM 49

The doubling of the tiara rays, letters and date don't seem to match up with VAM 8. They do look like MD not so much DDO, but they have included Machine Doubling in VAMs so I hesitate to write it off.

This looks like VAM 49, Doubled Eagle's beak..

Hi, I'm new here but I'm glad I found the site and your post. I have a 1922 dollar very similar to yours. It has the shoulder spike, a bit longer than your pic. The obverse has doubling of the LIB and R and GOD and possibly the R in TRVST. The G and O in GOD are obvious but the D is tough. The R in TRVST is questionable. The LIB are obvious and the R is weak. The doubled parts of all my letters seem to be in different parts of the letters than yours though. For instance the doubling on my L, I and B shows a lower fragment preceeding the upper full letter by about 1/3 the width of the uprights. I don't have a good camera. I'll try to get some pics if you're interested. I couldn't find anything about these errors until I found your post tonight. I'm interested in anything you might have learned.
