Well, I am thus far succeeding in my plan to ease up on the weapons purchases and to get back to coins this year. The weapons buys will continue, but at a more relaxed pace.

I've picked up five coins from Elymais in 2020 thus far, as well as a Parthian tet. It'll be some time before I can get them properly photographed and uploaded to my gallery. The fifth Elymaean, along with the Parthian, is a win from Leu Numismatik's Web Auction 11 this week. It's no big whoop, really, and I wasn't desperate for it (this is, after all, the seventh coin, and third tet of this particular ruler in my collection), but I'm still happy to have it. It's in especially good shape for the type, and I think the tiara is impressive.

Orodes II, early-mid 2nd century AD.
Tetradrachm (bronze, 30 mm, 15.00 g).
Obv. Draped bust of Orodes II, facing, wearing diademed tiara and long beard; to right, star-in-crescent above anchor symbol. Legend to left: King Orodes in Aramaic.
Rev. Elongated pellets in semi-regular pattern.

Sir, I know nothing about these coins, but I do know if they are coins of interest to you, there must be some very nice history behind them, or at least their kingdoms. Congrats on the nice pick-ups.

As for weapons pick-ups, I only have two planned for this year. Actually two types; 1. Deals that I am looking for and 2. Deals that I stumble on. :)

Super coin Bob, excellent strike and readable legend. The Aramaic language is one of those dead languages that has always interested me especially that it was the language that Christ spoke. I'm also hoping to get back more into coins this year.

I haven't seen a coin like this before Bob, so thank you for sharing this recent acquisition.

It is a beautiful coin, and I like the clear details. Orodes II is a very regal looking gentleman. Superb portrait.

Thanks, all.

Yes, Paul, that does make it does make it special. My other two tets of this fellow are nice too, but the borders on them are cropped in places, as is typical for these. It's nice to acquire one with such a broad flan.

Can't recall having seen an Elymaean coin with a legend before - neat!

I hope to get something from Elymais in my own collection some day...

Nice pickup, Bob!

I was eyeing that one during the auction but opted to focus on new Roman adds. Some of the coins in that auction went quite cheap!
