This is one of those notes I've always liked but never got. The serial numbers are the wrong color though, and look chemically altered. Perhaps it was done during a cleaning process.

@Dave L
Yes I noticed the numbers coloring was off. Quite irritating someone would do that to such a note. Can't wait for it to arrive though.

I've never gotten into the occupation currency but I have most of the coins the Japanese issued from 1933 through 1945 when they occupied Manchukuo (China).
Describe it as if there were no picture.

So what exactly makes these valuable? There are 2 still out there currently. A 1 dollar version they're asking for close to $200 that is not in the greatest condition, and a 5 yuan in pretty nice condition that is also over 100$.

I'd guess the dragon is what does it. They certainly aren't rare, as I see them for sale often enough online. There are some other notes issued by the Japanese Occupation of China that have a dragon on them that are much much less expensive, and you may want to look at China Military notes under the Japanese Occupation rather than the China Puppet Banks to find a cheaper dragon note. Those that you have, however, always seem to carry a premium. When perusing online, you may find one the seller hasn't researched enough. Some of these style notes I've got from the 'junk box' at coin dealers... I rarely go to a coin shop though, so it's been a while.
