Just wondering what your favorite coin is. Not what is the best deal you have gotten or your most expensive... just what coin is your favorite? Pictures are a plus! Edited by Mike 02/06/2006 4:26 pm

My favorite is the Roanoke commem. Only 6 'real" women have appeared on US coins, and two of them are on this coin! (Eleanor dare, and her daughter Virginia-first English child born in the new world) I don't have a pic of mine, but here is a link with a pic: http://www.usmint.gov/kids/index.cf.../2003/12.cfmMy bay bridge commem is also a fave-I see the bridge regularly, and the golden bear depicted was the last of its breed [:0] and lived in golden gate park. I see the park from work everday... You might want to ask for this to be in the main coin forum... Don

I love coins which depict the San Francisco area. I have two first cousins who live there, and we love to visit.
My favorite coins include:
1. JFK Half Dollars 2. Australian Lunar Coins 3. One Ounce Silver Bullion coins from U.S., Australia, or English Britannias.

My favorite coin in my collection is my 1891-CC Morgan dollar, followed by the rest of my Morgans and my Euros. If I had to pick a favorite out of coins I don't own and probably never will, it would be the Old Spanish Trail commem. Rachel [:p]

A gem 1969 quarter. I've never really found one that is up to my standards but I'm always looking. It needs to be fully struck (rare), clean (very scarce), and free of planchet marking (possibly non-existent). To find these all in one coin has not been easy.
A lot of the clads are really tough. If there were much competition most of them would be.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

From the Darkside this is my favourite ....not big in dollars, but BIG in every other aspect. Described as the "Coin of the Century" at the 2000 World Money Fair in Basel, Switzerland, this 99.9 silver 1 kilo coin is a true sculpture in numismatic art. The reverse of the coin has all the 28 sports contested at the Games, painstakingly craved out of a block of silver. It is craftsmanship of the highest level. Measuring a massive 100mm and weighing in at 1 kilogram, this is a "man's coin" (no offense meant to any of our female members).Mintage is only 20,000 for world wide consumption. This coin also serves to remind me of two very memorable weeks in Sydney as a spectator there during the Games. Met many people from all walks of life and from other countries...

Lim, I have to ask... the other side of that "table top" coin, does it have the normal image of QEII, date and Australia? Does the coin show it's denomination ($30) anywhere?

Lim, Macca's should put that photo in his guide. First time I've seen it.
Goodasgold, that's a cool coin and a cool clock that hangs around while you look at it.

Metalman Funny die break on that Roosie-is that a well known one? How did you find that one?
Clad Always enjoy your insights into modern coinage. It's never occurred to me to ask-how do you personally go about finding that 1969 WQ up to your standards? Do you have particular folks on the lookout for you? Do you ever search rolls? Don
Lim Pretty "coin". Don
