Diameter = 22mm

Weight = Approx 4.3g

Appears to be George V, but not sure if this is a formal military medal as it lacks titles and honors, or just a generically produced patriotic type medal.

Any help would be appreciated.

This was issued to British troops in either 1914 or 15, Christmas I believe. Memory fails me at present.

This is not a formal British medal.

The quote is the flag signal given by Admiral Nelson at the start of the Battle of Trafalgar 1805. Around WW1 it would have been well known in British society.

This piece is listed as number 5508B in Andrew Whittlestone & Michael Ewing's Royal Commemorative Medals 1837 - 1977 Volume 5. King George the Fifth 1910 - 1936. (First Edition, Galata, 2012.).

They list it under the heading "War time events 1914 -1919".

The obverse die is signed W.J.D. B'HAM which is W. J. Dingley of Birmingham. You can just see the faint letters sandwiched between the bust and the spray.
