I have a 1992 Prince Edward Island - 25 Cents coin. How do I identify it? I see that many are made of nickel but some has silver and copper. How do I know which one is mine?

Thanks.

Check it with a magnet, if it sticks, it is the nickel version...

Yeah, of course I thought about that.

The problem is that the coin is slabbed.

A rare earth magnet will still work to see if any coin is attracted to a magnet - even in a slab.

I'm surprised it's slabbed and not labelled with it's composition. I agree with SPP, a strong earth magnet will do, I get my Neodymium magnets from old computer hard drives.

If it's silver and in a slab from a reputable TPG the grade will be PRxx and it will have a cameo appearance.
If it's nickel the grade will be MSxx or PLxx.
If it's not from a reputable TPG, break it out and test it with a magnet.

I tried with a refrigerator magnet and they are not attracted ...

Well, the label says PR but it is not like the most prestigious grading company ever.

There is a sticker glued to the slab that says "silver" but I don't know who wrote it so I wanted to be sure.

It is the silver proof version, those are the only ones with the cameo appearance.
NNC got the PR part right but missed by a mile on the 70.
