Are these of any value? I know I would need to get them authenticated but the story is that Beattie himself signed these for a friend.

Does his autograph add value/demand for these notes? If so, what would it be worth?

The $1 is UNC and $5 VF condition.

Thank you,

Eddy

They would need to be authenticated.
My granddaughter who is quite talented at such things could make up a couple of more authentic looking signatures in an afternoon.
If real, cost of authentication could exceed value.

They can add value. As someone that used to authenticate signatures in my job, these look a little suspect. I would need to see a good example of Beattie's signature (not the printed one on a note) to be able to tell for sure. Not saying they're not the real deal, but I see red flags.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm torn in between getting it authenticated or not, seems to be a disagreement on if it adds value to the note.

The provenance of the note would help. Where did you get it from? When was the note signed? Is there a photograph of the signing or a letter or envelop. All of these things would prove that the signature is authentic.

I'm a dealer and a client of mine inherited his dads collection who told
Him he got Beatty to sign these 2 notes along with 10 others I also acquired in the same collection. Everything else is real including gold coins. He was a real collector and had many Victorian halves, key date Canadian coins and Morgan dollars.

So to answer your questions :
-got it from a client who's dad himself got these notes signed from Beatty
-no picture / video of the action
-no coa

I'm going to send 3 notes to get graded and for them to authenticate the autograph. If it is a real autograph and they sell at a premium, I'll get the rest of them authenticated.
