A Great Shipping Material For Coins

The two layer bubble wrap method was a bit redundant, and I noticed coins could still be felt in the bubble mailer. So when I chanced upon a better packing material the other day, I thought I'd write a quick update. Have you seen that self-adhesive cardboard material dealers sell to ship coins? Expensive, and what I've found is better because it's cheaper, thicker and should protect the coins better from detection. I can feel coins/2X2 through the flimsy/expensive stuff; not so with this: Corrugated cardboard, 1-sided, 4.5mm thick, shown folded on itself: How I pack coins with this material. The flat side allows for easy taping of 2x2s--think I use enough tape? The corrugated surface is on the exterior and it's impossible to feel for coins. This one foot square piece cost only $.24. Made as a folder which then nicely fits inside a bubble pack. When I ship overseas, a little packing overkill is a good thing! Bon voyage, my little friends! Report this Post to the Staff

Peter THOMAS Pillar of the Community Australia 2830 Posts	Posted 11/21/2008 07:15 am G'day & thankyou, there is a dealer in Sydney with a similar idea. the 2x2 goes into double-smooth-sided corrugated cardboard. It was impossible to detect. The cardboard was printed with the business name and instructions for opening. It was cut to fit into a standard business envelope (to hold A4 folded into thirds), and could hold three 2x2. I was impressed.
