With thanks to the powers-that-be for permission to create this contest, I offer you the chance to compare your grading skills against ANACS, with a small prize for the winner. Here's the scoop: I've submitted 9 coins to ANACS - 1 Large Cent, 4 Barber quarters and 4 Morgans. Some are MS, some not. I will post pics of each below. For bandwidth considerations, I'm striking a balance between size and practicality. Much larger pics and scans are available for all. Your job is to guess the grade ANACS will assign each of them. Either post your guesses here, or PM me if you don't want the competition knowing your plans. I don't believe any of them warrant a PL designation so that aspect isn't in play. The winner is the person whose total Sheldon Scale points most closely matches ANACS' total for all 9 coins. Bodybagged coins will be removed from the total, and Susanlynn9 has graciously agreed to hold one of her patented drawings in the case of a tie. A while back I won an ebay auction and the seller was nice enough to throw in a couple of MS Red Lincoln error coins - a 1955-S with die breaks and a 1956 BIE error. They're both very nice coins, but I dont collect them and the proper moral thing for me to do would be to give them away, just like I got them. So, that's what I'm going to do. They'll be the last pictures posted. I'm going to do a couple coins each in separate postings over the next few minutes, so please wait until they're all up before starting. 1908 Philadelphia and Denver Barbers: This one's honestly nicer in person than in the pics. This one, maybe a little bit the other way.

Quick bump to the top so you know the contest is still active; it's been more than a month and still no coins from ANACS.

I would suggest calling them at (800) 888-1861. Ask to speak to Wes Jacobs. He's the Director of Operations. I was very pleased with how he handled my phone call.

I just read a post elsewhere from someone who just got coins back from them, having submitted a month before me. I think between a whole lot of resubmits for the new slabs, and the planned move, they're a touch busy. I'm not worried, just impatient.
