NGC - Coin of the Day: Today, Chile celebrates Fiestas Patrias marking the day in 1810 that began its independence process, which took several years. Under Ferdinand VII, king from 1813 to 1833 (and shown on this Chile 1816SO FK Escudo from the Newman Collection), Spain lost nearly all its possessions in the Americas.
