Hi all, I'm new to the forum, as I just restarted my Lincoln Cent (wheat & memorial) collection from before the rise of the internet. Anyway I've finally begun to organize, catalog, and grade as I finally bought a loop and grading book. I don't mind having a couple of similar graded coins but I can see I have some years that are just ridiculous. What do you folks do with your "common" culls?

Ah I see, collecting 1st hoarding 2nd. I was kinda hoping for a route to get decent green for my culls for the purpose of buying more. I guess it doesn't make sense to turn into a coin shop for 2 or 3 cents apiece.

BigB It makes sense to turn them in if thats what you want to do with them ,, everyone kinda has their own thing with the extra wheats . There is always ebay by the pound ,roll or singles (I do not recommend singles for circ. wheaties ) you will or should be able to sell them by the pound or roll however for maybe a little better than 1.50 per roll. I keep them because I'm always starting new circ. sets as part of my master plan LOL, I also have a small program at the local school where several hundred a year go to the kids . Like I was saying its all a personal choice what you do with them .

Quote: Seeking: what is in the 3 B's? Buckets are the wheaties from the 40's and 50's ,boxes are the rolls of teens, 20's and 30's wheaties ,bags are the copper Memorial cents . I don't keep anything but the very best Zincolns ,which is at this point far from a complete set based on the criteria I have placed on them .

I save up my common wheats, buffalos and other coins and trade them in at a coin shop or show when I want to make a major purchase. Its much easier for me to let go of 20 rolls of common wheaties when I can get a $30 credit towards a $100 coin I need for my collection.

Hmm, methinks I will go with my initial plan, roll them by year & mint. By decade & mint for the less accessible production years and I'll see what to with them later. Thanks! This question only really came up because I couldn't resist the lull of the ebay rolls of "unsearched" wheats. I got 6 indians out of 3 rolls, and a couple of S-mints in the teens so it wasn't highway robbery, more small town larceny. It was fun while it lasted though. And gasp I bought more!! 3.95 a roll is tough to beat, hopefully they won't all be 1958 & 56 D's. HAHA I know a fools game by my reading on this sight.

I keep all Wheaties I find. If I already have them, they go to a small tupperware-type container I have, mostly because I don't know what else to do with them. The same is true of any Canadian KGVI and early Elizabeth pennies and nickels I find. Silver coins (Canadian), if they're badly worn, get sold for the silver value, because they would be pretty useless to a collector.
