I came into some coins when my grandpa died and he gave them to me and I just now started to find out what all was in the collection and I can not figure out what year this Indian Head coin is. The numbers rubbed off, but the last number is an 8. This is my first time posting on the forum so I'm not really sure how to properly photograph the coin.

All I can tell is it is either 1888, 98, or 08. It can't be a 68 or 78.

Coins from a family member are valuable memories - I have a few from my Mom. That being said the coin is damaged in a couple of places and has little or no collectible value. Enjoy your coins and show us more if you have questions.

Second to last digit in date might be a zero (making this a 1908):

At least you now know it is not a 2008.
