I just noticed that my total posts are now at 5,000!

Uh-oh. How did that happen--something must be done about it!

Which means--it's time for yet another milestone contest.

So let's give recognition to this great community and all the collectors here.

Without further ado, here's The Contest:
Nominate your favorite contribution to the forums since my last contest in June. Your nomination may appeal to any aspect of collecting that most interests you: discovery of a rarity, an educational/historical aspect, humor or good writing—anything that makes the post the most distinctive to you. Since there are so many great contributors here, the contest will run through December, ending on the stroke of New Year's, forum time.

What's a contest without a few rules?
One nomination per member, linking to the original post. It's OK to change your nomination during the course of the contest.
• If you nominate a long thread, the member who started the post will be your nominee.
• You cannot nominate yourself or someone already nominated, and I'm obviously excluded from such a distinction lol.
• Posts that are "Millenium Pillar Picks" are ineligible due to their prior recognition.
• Once the nominations are in, I'll pick a winner...unless anyone would like to help.
There will be two winners: the winning contributor and the collector who nominated them. Prizes TBD: each winner will get a choice of one of several coins I select from my collection.
• Nominations accepted for the whole month of December, ending on New Year's (forum time)

Have fun!
--Kurt

My favourite post of the year:

Coin World - 1795 Reeded Edge Large Cent Found.

I know very little about early American coinage and what I do know I have learned from CCF. IMHO, this post was an incredible journey. The discussion, the anticipation, the payoff. Classic thread for a classic coin.

JBuck--yes, that's a great post!
However, it's already a "Millenium Pillar Pick"...any others?

It is? I looked and did not find it. Let me look again...

Okay...

I looked again and do not see where it was chosen in the MP forum. Am I looking in the right place?

Oh, silly me...

It is in the RSS feeds. I never look there! I guess it makes sense now, if the MP pick a topic, it needs to be posted somewhere! I never realized just how that worked out.

Okay, this is going to take a while.

Sorry JBuck...I did not realize the "Pillar Picks" were hard to find, since I view them regularly from the "CCLive" menu on my browser. I could not find a direct link for reference, so I might just have to confirm the nominations.

Bonedigger, I like that thread too.
Per the (revised) rules, your nomination will apply to the originator of that thread.

Yeah, it is not even on the RSS feed home page. I found the link in Dad's sticky in the MP forum.

Okay, I did not see this one in the MP Pillar Picks, but the 1972 Silver Quarter deserves mention. Even though the thread had an unnatural end, I am sure once the final certification is made we will see a follow-up post from eel or Bobby.

Wow, jbuck, I never saw that 1972 quarter post before... Thanks for making me waste a half an hour reading it. Too bad it had to end in the way it did though.

Cool to see all these submissions!
Guys, if you nominate the longish threads, just be aware the nomination applies only to the first poster, because picking one contributor is hard otherwise.
