Hello guys, I'm new to the coin collecting. I came across a 2007 penny with what I believed was a "mint mark" error, I hope I said that right. I used my phone to take the picture, I'm unsure if it that's what it is or just some common damage to it, or who knows I have a lot to learn, thanks in advance.

I believe that is a plating bubble, if you use a toothpick, it should move a bit.

I just looked up a plating bubble that's pretty neat. I enjoyed learning something new, I took a close up picture, but the others I took and optimized were still slightly too large.

The next stage after a plating bubble is zinc rot, where the coin eats itself. Spend it while you can!

Split plating. Zinc rot is setting in, or that area is incuse if the copper plating is there. Showing gray would be zinc rot.
