I picked this up for $64 USD....maybe got a bit of a deal? Any thoughts on grade?

Looks EF-40 due to the wear on the hair.
So yes, I'd say you got a deal!

Looks like you did well. I would go EF, probably old cleaning, unless hairline are on the plastic. Probably $200 cad +/-$50.

Agreed with the above grade estimations. At that price, for this coin, you really cant go wrong! Nice find!

Can someone explain to me why this coin wouldn't be graded as almost uncirculated? Are points being deducted for the cleaning? Wouldn't the cleaning itself put the coin into the details category, thereby eliminating a number grade altogether?

Wear in the hair and leaves. I think that it's AU or almost there, but has been dipped, and not recently.

The hair to the right of the wreath has been worn down so that the individual hairline are no longer visible.
Also, the hair to the left of the wreath is no longer sharp.
Finally, the braid below the ear is considerably worn.

All of these reasons, IMHO, keep it from being any higher than EF-40.
