Picked up this interesting Peace dollar recently. This looks like it was done professionally. I wish I could figure out a little more about this person. A quick google search didn't bring back much information.

The coin's date was removed, prior to the name being applied. I strongly suspect that this is an artfully engraved piece, a love token; this, as opposed to having been counterstamped. It may well have been a birthday or graduation present.

Thanks ExoGuy...I thought it was interesting. I can tell someone took care of it after the engraving. It's a really nice Peace dollar with attractive toning. I know it is "damaged" but I only paid melt for it.

I was thinking it may have celebrated his birth.
If so, he's only slightly older that I.
Describe it as if there were no picture.

Well, I do spot a clue on how to possibly narrow the date down. There is a strong clash mark above the eagles right wing, below the beak. So vamworld.com now can possibly narrow down the possible date from the vamming aspect.

To help narrow the date down, based on my observation of the reverse clash mark, its either a 1922 or 1924. The only logical vams that possibly match yours are:
1922 VAM-2R2, 2R3, or VAM-2U1; or a 1924 VAM-1CO unless I missed something.
Im sorta a fanatic for trying to pin a date on historical items, just because it is possible and fun to do
Almost forgot, it would be a B2 reverse if it were a 1922, since there are three hills to the right of the eagles base.

Where and how did you purchase it? Did the seller provide any insight into it's history?

I bought a lot of worn silver dollars and this was in the lot. No history at all was given from the seller.
