that's a common location for a die chip that results in what is sometimes called a beehive or hornet's nest

to the CCF! It does look like a die chip, and as nick10 said, sometimes these are called Bee Hive or Wasp/Hornet Nest because of the look when they are located on the outside column of the Monticello. They are fairly common.

I agree, looks like die chips, but a larger close-up would be helpful. to the CCF!

Anyone know if a die chip like that, if so, adds any monetary value as a rule? Or, are they so common in that spot that no one really cares beyond the coolness factor?
