I'm simply trying to get a grasp of the quality diffrence on certain years of minted coins.

Found this in circulation, was surprised at the condition of it.

This to me looks like an XF-45/AU-50 at the best possible grade, since I can see the eagles breast feathers. Also look at the rim to see if it is a clad composition, if not, then it would be the very rare 1965 quarter struck on a 90% silver planchet valued at several thousand, and would have a different color than clad ones.
Now yours is likely a clad composition since this is the first year for them and strike is probably a little different than for silver ones. Still a nice one from circulation.

Probably only VF.
Look at the flat area of the hair near the ear.
Appears well worn.
Describe it as if there were no picture.
Picture it as if there were no description.

Nicely worn '65, not abused. I'll go with VF35+.

Just looking at the breast detail I'd have to say AU-50, though the rest of the coin sure doesn't look it.

XF-40, the cupro-nickel alloy is much tougher than silver was, making coins like that depicted wear much more slowly

Well thank you very much for everybody's opinions. That actually helped me understand a little bit more about the grading process and the thought that goes into it.
All I can say about grade is that this 65 quarter looks beautiful compared to the rest of them that I've seen. It even has a little shine left to it still.
Definitely yes it's worn in certain spots for sure.
