This spectacular 1919-D Walking Liberty Gem defies all expectations for what the 1919-D should be. Perhaps most impressive is its pinpoint-sharp strike. The branch hand and eagle's feathers are nearly fully formed. Both Liberty's head and the trailing leg on the reverse are similarly well-detailed. Blatantly original surfaces showcase speckled shades of golden-russet and crimson patina with light silver centers and glistening satin luster. The eye appeal, strong impression, and top-notch preservation are nearly unparalleled. This is one of the highlights of the Duckor Family Collection, and it is certain hold the same position in any future set.

A knockout coin.
I would have fallen for it even more, if it had been blast white.

The extreme rarity of 1919-D's like this has always puzzled me. According to PCGS, this is a $225,000 coin. Why does this date stick out in the series?
