Folks,

I was going thru my Indian Head pennies and looking up values on the PCGS website. I have an 1868 and 1869 that are in "bad" shape (photos attached). I saw that PCGS has those years' grades for 1-4 unusually high. Would you say that is because of the "rarity" of coins from those years in even low grades? Could some of you offer an estimated grades of my coins? Are they "details"/

Thanks.
Bill

Photograde is useless for the most part.

The 68' is extremely damaged and near worthless in that condition, the 69 on the other hand is a nice AG-03 worth ~$75-80 retail.

I'd agree with Grape. First one is too far gone IMO, AG03 on the 1869.

PCGS retail prices tend to be a bit inconsistent. Better off checking sold listings in same condition. The only real "price jump" is typically at P01. Not because of condition rarity, but because lowball collectors tend to pay a a premium for slabbed examples in 01 and 02, primarily 01.
