Hello,

I found this in my Dads collection he left me.

Its in terrible condition as you can see.
I get the impression cleaning coins is taboo and anyway whenn I super magnified it theres green Copper Oxide so its probably been picked up out the ground.

What is the fate of such a coin?

Sue

There really isn't any way to improve the condition of this - it's basically a cull and carries almost no premium.

Thx for the look.

I might clean it up and see if I can make a ring out it depending on the outcome.
Its incredible that something that old and damaged ended up in my Dads hoard in Scotland 130 Years after it was struck.

Sue.

The coin is toast but I'm sure it has sentimental value .

The coin is toast, I've been known to put coins like this back into circulation.
