Nearly half of the design types of the classic US commemorative coin series incorporate one or more animals in their designs. To make the Index to my posts of these coins over in the "Post Your..." thread area a bit more manageable, I decided to split the Index into two parts: 1) Coins with Eagles, and 2) Coins with Any Other Animal. As you've likely already surmised, the American Bald Eagle is the most commonly depicted animal in the classic commemorative series, appearing on silver coins as well as gold.

The link for each coin listed below connects to a post that presents a brief discussion of the coin's design and its use of an eagle within it.

Here' my list of 11 "Classic Commemorative Coins with an Eagle." Did I forget any?

1. 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition Half Dollar
2. 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition Gold $2.50
3. 1918 Illinois Statehood Centennial
4. 1921 Alabama Statehood Centennial
5. 1925 Stone Mountain Memorial
6. 1934-38 Texas Independence Centennial
7. 1935 Connecticut Tercentenary
8. 1935-38 Arkansas Statehood Centennial
9. 1936 Robinson-Arkansas Statehood Centennial
10. 1936 Albany, NY Charter 250th Anniversary
11. 1936 Bridgeport, CT Centennial

BONUSES:

- 2015 US Marshals Service - Gold Half Eagle
- 2018 American Palladium Eagle

The coins listed above are part of a broader "Post Your..." thread - one that includes coins depicting any animal within the Animal Kingdom. So, there's plenty to see once you're there! Take a few minutes to look around after you check out one or more of the above. A "convocation of eagle coins" (i.e., a flock of eagles coins) would make for a great topical collection!

(I'll follow this Index with one for the "Other Animals.")

Seems like a really good list!

The one eagle reverse that stands out above the others is the 1936 Bridgeport. The Art Deco design is wonderful and the fact that the eagle's beak and tail along with a few letters actually push into the rims of the reverse makes it my number one choice of eagle on any coin. The overlap seems to makes the eagle look almost too large for the coin!

A nice list!

I would have guessed it would be longer, but I now realize how diverse the classic designs really are.
