Here's an Index to a set of posts I've made about classic-era US commemorative coins over in the "Post Your..." forum area (Post Your... Gallery). This Index covers the classic coins that were Designed by a Woman. Though male sculptors were in the majority within the field in the first half of the 20th century, they certainly didn't hoard all of the talent. Many great contributions to US coinage were made by female artists/sculptors!

Here's my list of 12 classic-era US commemorative coins for which a female artist was either the sole designer, co-designer or modeler.

The links for each coin listed below connects to a post that presents a discussion focused on the woman in question. In each, I provided a brief biography that includes an education/training overview for the artist, a review of her awards/achievements and a look at her numismatic credits.

If I've missed any, please let me know!
1. 1921 Alabama Statehood Centennial - Luara Gardin Fraser
2. 1922 Grant Centenary Memorial - Laura GardinFraser
3. 1925 Ft. Vancouver Centennial - Laura Gardin Fraser
4. 1926-39 Oregon Trail Memorial - Laura Gardin Fraser
5. 1928 Hawaiian (European) Discovery Sesquicentennial - Juliette May Fraser
6. 1935-38 Arkansas Statehood Centennial - Modeled by Emily Bates
7. 1936 Arkansas-Robinson - Enid Bell (reverse)
8. 1936 Albany 250th Anniversary of Charter - Gertrude Lathrop
9. 1936 Cincinnati Music Center - Constance Ortmeyer
10. 1936 Cleveland Centennial - Brenda Putnum
11. 1936 Norfolk, VA Bicentennial - Marjorie Emory Simpson + William Marks Simpson
12. 1938 New Rochelle, NY 250th Anniversary - Gertrude Lathrop

BONUS:
13. 1947 MacArthur Commemorative Coins for the Philippines
14. 1930 Massachusetts Bay Colony Tercentenary Medal

Honorable Mentions

- Women Who Could Have Been First

In addition to the women listed above, the Gallery thread also includes a number of other coins and medals designed by women either for the US, or another country. So, take a few minutes to look around after you check out one or more of my posts. Have fun!

Tremendous knowledge sharing as always commems.

I really enjoyed the two bonus topics - thank you for all you do to share with all of us.

It's been a while since I've asked - so, when do we expect publication of the book?

@Both: Thanks for the positive and supportive feedback. Much appreciated!

Ah yes, "the book." I've finished over 95% of the research I want to conduct, so it's time to get serious on the writing/compilation of content side of things. Of course, I have quite a bit of content I've already drafted for posts here on CCF to begin things... Time will tell!

Excellent!

It will be well worth the wait, I am certain.
