I have inherited a coin collection which I am going through to determine if anything in it is valuable. One of the coins my grandmother bought in China, I imagine it is fake. Anyone know if this looks real or not or how I could find out?
Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Thanks for the welcome, hopefully these pictures are better, its the best I can do with my equipment.

Each coin weighs 27 grams

@lose, first welcome to CCF. Second, these ones are pretty tough to validate, but posting better pics (straight on and better lit) plus a weight would help. Thx!

Better pictures would help, can't tell much from these. Very difficult coin type to verify, these are being produced today to fool collectors. Most of what has been appearing are modern fakes.

Thanks y'all once I find a scale I will give them a weigh. Appreciate the advice so far, its not cool that folks are creating fakes of these.

Both are 27 g.

Believe you may have a modern reproduction of a Wang Mang knife coin. This link will give you more information together with dimensions.

These are reproductions. The lettering is all raised, as it is on most Chinese cast coins, but on genuine Wang Mang knives, the lettering on the round coin-shaped handle is incuse and gold-inlaid. Genuine example on zeno.ru.
