Hey there. I've been trying to figure out which VAM I have. It looks to be the VAM 81 but look at the doubling on the reverse..would that change things or is that normal? I've stared at the doubling on the motto but especially the word TRUST. bc its so awesome to finally see in REAL doubled die. Very cool.

From your pictures provided I'll say you have this VAM:

1878-P VAM-79 Missing Nostril,Doubled Cotton Leaves. Hot 50 Morgan VAM.

Obverse II/I 35 - Slightly doubled LIBERTY shifted left. Doubled 2 through 7 stars on left and first three stars on right. Lower part of Liberty head nostril partially missing from over polished die. R of PLURIBUS doubled at top inside of upper loop. Hair, cotton bolls & leaves doubled on right side. Ear slightly doubled on right inside. Key identifier - Metal in loops of both 8's. (Also 201)
Reverse B1a - Different die than VAM-70 .

Nice coin

I'm thinking VAM-81 with MD on the reverse.
