Hi there! I'm new to coin collecting so is like to say thank you in advance. I've recently added this coin to my collection and would like help grading and also see if it would be worth it to have slabbed. The pictures do no justice. The toning is beautiful and to me the coin itself seems to be in great condition. But again, I'm new to this so please any info is appreciated!

. I am not good at grading so I won't. Members might need better photos to grade by. Here is a link on grading https://www.PCGS.com/photograde/
Here is a link on values, also check eBay sold values to get an idea on current values http://www.numismedia.com/rarecoinprices/fmv.shtml

Kinda looks like an AU-50ish based on the decent photos I see. with John1 also. I have always liked good eye appeal on our older coinage, such as yours.

Low-mid AU, but cannot judge surface originality without better pictures.

Here are enlarged and cropped images of your coin. AU50 sounds about right with the obverse better than the reverse. Lovely obverse color.

the obverse is AU50 but the reverse is not there. maybe VF30 or 35. I would net it XF however the color on obverse is quite indicative of being cleaned and the reverse is way to flat/dull for an AU coin. the color is just not right. at best the coin would have a value in the $80 range if it graded straight. as a details coin maybe half of that. the coin would not be a candidate for grading at a TPG as the cost would be too high to warrant it.

Kimberly523!

I'd put this coin at EF45 net, there is a possible recoloring done however the coin is in great shape for it's age, in fact all Half Cents are pretty rare these days, not many survived this long and to find one in this condition is always a treat. There are a few little spots on the rim that hold the grade back for me, otherwise a super duper coin! I'd be happy to have it in my own collection.

Thanks all!!! I took a bunch of pictures and they all come out different depending on the light, background etc. I'd post more but still have to figure out how to reduce the size of the pictures.

I appreciate everyone's input!!
